My dad will be happy. Let's see if the new one can hit 400000 miles like his last one.

There is the Hilux for that though. Which is better in most ways.

It's funny that Tacoma's aren't even that big to us.

compared to what's on sale now , the chevs/Fords/Ram utes are that fucking huge. it's a joke.

mind you the Holden Colorado/Toyota Hilux/Ford Ranger/Mazda BT50/Isuzu D-max aren't as small as they use to be

so i figure the Tundra will be a little bigger , but not totally oversized like the US 3.

I wonder if there are any mules stateside. If there are, I know where they would be for high altitude testing. If I have time (and gas) I may go there tomorrow night

I would guess they probably are stateside, but I could be wrong. It does debut next week, so you'll probably see some uncovered soon enough.

One of the few trucks out there still available as a manual. The V6 manuals used the 1GR-FE, which means the transmission should be able to bolt-on to the 2GR-FSE in the IS350. Why Toyota never did that (they did offer a manual in the IS 250 but it's TERRIBLE), I'll never know.

Probably not. Toyota and Honda want you to buy another one, not hold onto the one you have. They learned their lesson in the 90s.

The R154 was the transmission in the non-turbo supra up to 2004 and that was the last version of this trans that was available in a car, the R155 is a 2wd version that could work i guess, but Im not sure if the dimensions work out. The truth is that it requires costly re certification if the trans tunnel is modified and because the truck trans tunnel isn't as important to space optimize im guessin they made it roomy enough for both, where in the IS/GS its more an issue.

I thought that picture you posted was of the mule. I was very happy with them going back to mechanical levers to switch between 2WD, 4wD. Then I was kind of surprised how a mule would get dirty so quickly.

Then I realized how dumb I am.

Non-turbo MKIII Supras had W58's (related to the W55 in my IS300). Turbo MKIII Supras had the R154, and MKIV's had V160/V161's. NA MKIV's also had a W58, but it wasn't exactly the strongest.

Since the IS250 had a manual, I'm sure Toyota used the same transmission as the Tacomas (as there are no other RWD applications with a manual), so the bell housing would probably bolt up to a 350 and be able to use the driveshaft. The only problem is the tranmission used in the 250 is weaker than a house of cards. The Tacoma X-Runner had a 6-speed manual strapped to the GR-series engine. I'd love to have a manual IS350 one day, but considering swapping the auto from an IS300 to a stock W55 costs at least $5000, I don't see it being cheap.
